Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia

What We Did

When the Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia purchased a former bank, the organization envisioned a “beacon in the community.” Riverstone converted 18,000 square feet into a vibrant headquarters supporting innovation, learning, and community engagement. The adaptive reuse required specialized demolition of bulletproof glass, teller lanes, and a bank vault, along with comprehensive planning and life-safety upgrades.

Delivered within a $1.1 million budget and tight timeline, Riverstone phased construction to complete second-floor offices first, allowing staff operations to continue while retail, co-working, and gathering spaces were built below. The result is a first-of-its-kind headquarters welcoming thousands of scouts, volunteers, and community members annually.
